Peter Cheyne

Peter has been a minister in the PCANZ from 1983. He retired in 2021 but remains actively involved pursuing his passions.

He ministered for 7 years in Kaikoura, 20 years at Calvin, in Gore, was Moderator of the PCANZ from 2010-2012, and then spent 8 years at Mornington, Dunedin.

He now helps out at various churches, is involved in a national leadership course, builds a number of websites with Christian resources and convenes the Spiritual Renewal and Growth task group within Southern Presbytery.

He lives in Brighton, Dunedin and worships at East Taieri Presbyterian Church.

Since 1990, his primary interest has been in making disciples. Jesus commissioned the church to make disciples but sometimes we feel inadequate for the task. Peter has studied how Jesus made disciples and seem that the same principles were adopted by the New Testament church. He believes that, as followers of Jesus, we are meant to follow Jesus' model.

Peter has a keen interest in other, related topics such as:

  • What is the mission of the church?

  • What is the gospel?

  • The Bible

  • Healthy churches

  • Etc
