Please read over the following points. Your continued enrollment in this course will constitute your consent to the following conditions.
1. I understand that it is my responsibility to register at the homework site as soon as possible and that the professor will be unsympathetic to my plight if I should have problems registering the day the first homework set is due.
2. I understand the policies stated in the syllabus, including the statement on academic integrity, and the course requirements which are (1) taking the pre- and post-test if applicable, (2) completing online homework, (3) taking in-class exams, and (4) taking a cumulative final.
3. I understand that it is my responsibility to stay on track with the readings and course materials as stated in the course schedule.
4. I understand that it is my responsibility to show up for the exams and class meetings* on time and prepared. Furthermore, I understand that class will be conducted according to the strictest rules of civility; thus, I will not eat, drink, text, sleep, chat, or be rude in class.
5. I understand that it is the professor’s policy not to provide make-up exams except in the most extreme circumstances.
6. I understand that it is highly unlikely that I will be successful in this course if I spend less than 10 hours per week learning the material (coming to class*, reading, doing homework, using the online tutorials, forming a study group, visiting the professor in office hours, etc.).
7. I understand that there are a number of activities that I can engage in to help me understand the material and to do better in this course including coming to class*, using the online tutorials, reading the book, doing the homework multiple times, forming a study group, meeting the professor in office hours, etc.
8. I understand that if I am having difficulty with the material, it is my responsibility to meet with the professor during scheduled office hours. I will request an appointment at an alternative time only if I cannot possibly attend regular office hours.
9. I understand that my communication with the professor and the other students in this class should be conducted professionally and respectfully whether it is in-person or electronic. For example, the email messages I send to the professor should abide by the basic grammatical and punctuation rules of the English language, should have a subject line, and should be signed with my first and last name and the section of the course I am taking.
10. I understand that the professor will periodically contact me by email either at the email address I used to register for iLrn/Cengage or my Coastal email address.
11. I understand that while the professor may be able to help me with technical issues with Aplia, it is my responsibility to contact Aplia support team when I have technical problems.
12. I understand that there could be mistakes on the online homework and that when notifying the professor of this I need to be very specific about the homework set and number containing the problem and what specifically the problem is.
13. I understand that participating in class activities will help me learn the material and so it is important for me to come to class prepared (having read, attempted the homework, etc.) and willing to participate.*
14. I understand that as a distance student I am afforded more flexibility in how I learn the course material but that this flexibility comes with a unique responsibility to be self-motivated, committed, independent, mature, and well-organized.**
