What: Kata-A-Thon 2025
When: Saturday, August 16, 2025:
Kata Challenge: 10 am - 2 pm
Kick Challenge: Noon - 2 pm
Potluck: 2 pm - 3:30 pm
Where: Outside Cuong Nhu Redwood Dojo (Redwood Heights Recreation Center: 3883 Aliso Ave, Oakland)
Who: All students are invited to participate! The Kata Challenge is designed for adults and teens of all ranks, as well as kids yellow belt and above. The Kick Challenge is designed for kids below yellow belt (ages 4 & up). Yellow stripe kids who can do Taikyoku on their own may join the Kata Challenge with instructor permission.
Families, friends, and non-participating dojo members are welcome to watch the Kata-A-Thon and join the potluck.
What to Bring: Gi, closed-toe shoes, water bottle, sunscreen, tambo/bo, potluck dish, chair/blanket.

T-Shirt Cost: $25, after tax. Shirt orders close August 1st
Suggested Donation: Kata Challenge: $30 | Kick Challenge: $15
Payments: After you submit your registration form, it will be reviewed and an invoice will be emailed to you. Follow the invoice link to make an online credit card payment or bring a cash or check payment to Redwood Dojo.
Proceeds: All post-tax proceeds from event donations and t-shirt sales go to the Redwood Dojo Scholarship Fund.
These funds help students attend West Coast Training Camp, International Training Camp, and other Cuong Nhu seminars and special events. These extra events provide valuable (and fun!) training and the scholarship fund helps ensure that these events remain accessible to Redwood Dojo students.
Note that payments go through Cuong Nhu Redwood Dojo, LLC (not a non-profit), so donations and payments are not tax-deductible, but all after-tax proceeds will go to the scholarship fund.
