Redhill and Reigate BC is very proud to be the first signatory in the UK to the Solibad charter.
The French charity, which was founded in 2009, operates in developing countries around the world, raises funds and donates unused or unwanted badminton equipment, donated by signatories, to schools, clubs and youth groups.
The club will coordinate local collection of unused kit and contribute towards Solibad Days, a dedicated fundraising event, in 2026.
The Charter text, signed in July 2025 by current chair, Alex:
"I, the undersigned, President or authorized representative of my club, commit the latter to respect the values of fair play and sportsmanship defended by Solibad, on and off the pitch.
We must always remember that, although for us this sport is above all a fun activity, in other regions of the world it is sometimes an original support and an important educational and social means for young children in disadvantaged situations.
We commit ourselves, either for the current sporting year or for all the seasons corresponding to our elected mandate, to helping the Solibad association by affixing the Solibad logo on all our communication materials and by relaying Solibad events and program news to our members. But also by being a driving force for organizing events related to its activities in the future, particularly as part of the Solibad Days. We also commit to paying each year the sum of €100 corresponding to the membership fee for clubs, committees and leagues. This sum may be deducted from any fundraising action during the year, upon simple request."
