Badminton England have launched a physical warm up programme, suitable for all levels of players.
Warming up thoroughly and in the correct order, helps your body prepare for the speed and activities within the sport, starts to wake up your muscles, generate blood flow and increase oxygen levels, and with that energy levels to your muscles. It also helps protect you from injuries, and increases flexibility.
The programme includes three parts
Raise and Mobilise, includes Scorpions, Reverse Scorpions, Spider Lunge and Twist, Squat Row and Pogos
Strength, Balance and Plyometrics includes a range of exercises divided by ability
Running exercises, to get your muscles firing all the way!
The obvious omission here is using a racquet, so don't forget you need to go a warm up on court as well.
