Are you a regular social player, perhaps with family, friends, or informal No Strings groups - and want to move your game on to the next level?
Perhaps you are lacking confidence, don't understand why you get beaten, or simply want to move towards more competitive play with new people?
Our Beginner to Intermediate player development programme is for you.
Simply put, this programme is for less experienced players who wish to improve their game, already have a moderate fitness level and play regularly, perhaps at other venues maybe using plastic shuttlecocks.
This programme includes ~3 months of court access on weekday evenings, with feather shuttles, mentoring, games, practice drills and at least 10 hours of formal coaching, delivered in groups. You'll be supported by our coaching team, who are insured and DBS checked.
The programme has 15 places available and runs termly in the Autumn and Spring, the next will run from September to December 2026.
Cost: £150, concessions / key workers £75 (inc Badminton England membership)
"As a beginner, I often got frustrated at myself for making mistakes and didn't really understand how to improve - but with the coaching, practice and mentoring I've had, I'm enjoying the game a lot more, and my skills and consistency have increased massively!" - Sam, RARBC member
Includes Badminton England membership, Court time and shuttlecocks, insurance and coaching insurance. All participants must have their own racket, drinks and appropriate non-marking footwear.

As a very rough guide, the vast majority of badminton players fall somewhere between beginners and intermediate players. Progressing between these requires effort, including coaching, practice and mentoring.
Beginners:
>60% shot accuracy
No competitive play, limited awareness of tactics, vulnerable to injuries
Intermediate:
>80% shot accuracy
Playing regularly with feather shuttles, some awareness of tactics and strategy, regular competitive play, some warming up and cooldown
Advanced:
95%+ shot accuracy
Playing matches at medium-high Club, County or above, regular fitness and coaching work, structured preparation, warmups and cooldowns.
