Activity: Collaborative Coupon Book
Supplies: Paper, drawing utensils
Put family members names in a hat, and then pick a 'secret' name. Create a coupon book of things the person you selected. These should be acts of kindness, not necessarily tangible objects for the person. Think doing the dishes, walking the dog for a week, babysitting, cleaning another persons room, etc.

Supplies: Journals, drawing utensils
The Unitarian minister, Edmund Sears, wrote the Christmas carol, "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQjpDKKPDK4. As you listen, take your journal and draw what you hear.

Why do you think we use the flame of the chalice to symbolize hope?
What are you looking forward to doing as a family to mark the Solstice?
Activity:Paper Bag Luminaries
Supplies: paper bags, pencil, electric votive candle; optional: hole punch, sand
Using a pencil or hole punch, create designs by making holes in the bag. If you have it available, put about an inch of sand at the bottom of the bag. Place the bag outside. At night, place the electric candle inside to light up the dark night with hope!
