Thanks to the Henry Morris Awards, I could do this trip. Last year, I applied for funding towards my bike ride to Amsterdam and it was a huge success. I really enjoyed it and, in the process, I learnt about cycling infrastructure in Holland and a lot of history about towns and how the Dutch government rebuilt the entire country after the war. I now understand how reliable and well-thought-through the cycle paths are there, especially as I got zero punctures on that trip, compared to three on this one. On the bright side, I probably improved my puncture-repairing skills (or at least patience) on this trip!
Fortunately, you are allowed to request funding more than just once. So, at the start of 2024, I thought I could do another cycling trip, this time around Norfolk, exploring the history of important villages and the geography of how coastal defence strategies minimise the impact coastal erosion on the North Norfolk Coast. I was originally planning to do this trip in the summer holidays but we managed to squeeze it into May half-term as my summer was pretty booked up. Overall, I think this trip has been a great success (despite the weather) and I am really grateful for the Henry Morris Awards for funding it!
