Reflection
My starting point for this reflection will be the ISTE Standards for Educators 2.7 Analyst: Educators understand and use data to drive their instruction and support students in achieving their learning goals. 2.7.b Use Tech to Create Assessments: Use technology to design and implement a variety of formative and summative assessments that accommodate learner needs, provide timely feedback to students, and inform instruction.
As this class ends, I have learned about new tech tools that I can utilize and create assessments in my classroom. I used to know only one or two tech tools for creating assessments, but now I am aware of many useful tools recommended by ISTE standards. Assessment is ongoing throughout learning and by using an assessment created from a tech tool the teacher can provide instant feedback and support students with their learning needs. From my internship, I created an assessment using a tech tool and I found it very helpful that I had instant results to show the students. The tool showed me where I needed to reteach content and provided a variety of other ways to re-assess after going over content. Providing a variety of assessments to students keeps them engaged and accommodates students who need differentiation.
Our activity in the last class created a curiosity in my tech learning. Using a prompt we were to ask an AI tool about assessments in the classroom, it was then that I saw how useful AI can be in my teaching career. I found out that I can ask AI questions following my first prompt, this will create an advancement in knowing what tools are best suited for my classroom. Learning more about AI will support me in the way I can adhere to ISTE standards and follow what's new and trending. The Horizon Report can also help me understand why it's essential to keep learning about tech tools and why I should integrate them into my classroom. It wasn't until this class that I took an interest in wanting to keep up with emerging AI tech tools that would help me enhance my learning techniques.
Going through the APs made me realize that it's essential to have someone on the tech committee directly from the school who understands what is new and emerging with technology. Who also knows what products and programs are needed for those technologies, because if the school doesn't, they will lack the advancement of technology the school could be using and the students may miss out on great opportunities. I hope the school I'm working in will have someone knowledgeable in that area, if not, maybe I can keep up with what's new and upcoming and try to fill that role or encourage someone who might be interested.
