I'm tired of losing track of the comments I want to make a video answer to...
So, here they are so I do not forget about them.

In a much earlier video when you were first talking about the VOL you looked at some expensive speakers I think only 7 pairs exist built by a well know Japanese guy and you mentioned that the best port is 360d around the base. ( I think his were only on three sides or 270d)Why wouldn’t thst work with the Voights? * this is all from memory so could be errant :-()

Hi Janos, I saw the live video on transformers. Good info. You mentioned the Vansevers conditioner. I bought one years back on a recommendation.
I once half attempted to open up the chassis of the Vans but saw that it probably needed some special tool to do so , so I gave up. It would be nice to see
a video on how to open it up and what mods can be done. Thanks

One hidden message😉- mono is more revealing and allows good a-b's of improvements (except for stereo imaging)
Steven Rubin 8/10/22 Janos, The system displayed is turntable driven, tube based, horn loaded systems. All hand made audio art. I believe in the simplicity of the past and electronics to draw you in close to the music. Tube based analouge delight. Devon mentioned its "not class D". Many in the audio field use measurements to rate systems. Audioscience review has taken off trying to analyze many parameters. Many high end components are rated poorly (...edited for ease of understanding). We all know that you can't measure the taste of an ex..Apple.. but somehow there's a lot of confusion. All forms of audio systems are variations of fake sounds...its all different interpetations of what sounds best. What are your thought????
Paul Schafer Your points about sustained listening are well taken. So many of us (especially younger people) are distracted and have lost the ability to focus and concentrate. It's one of the reasons why classical music is such a difficult sell to younger folks. Too much focus is required.
Follow-up points:
focus is vital for developing audio-skills. (Discern sounds, qualities, aural memory).
We all have aural skills: identifying who is talking, which room are we in, close to a wall or facing which wall,.... <- this is all learned, and we can extend/APPLY these skills to describe sound coming from the sound system.
Rick G Hi Janos.. Could you elaborate more on the pros and cons of Hybrid rectification? Thanks.
brucermarino Janos, Thank for another interesting presentation. Will you be covering the usefulness of electrolytics with higher quality bypass capacitors in the future? B&W and others seem to have used this successfully. They describe it in a white paper. Thanks again!
The audio industry did this to Beethoven...
Bass and dynamics is all about punch, kick, slam, going titAnic (aka knock out or belly up), while all the subtlety, gentleness, fine play... well, who cares....
Beethoven would be much displeased with the trend in audio industry. Our capacity to lift our spirits is regressing, while our insatiable voracity ever increases, yet cannot be ever satisfied....
And a lot of this hinges on the problems with power supply design....
Howard Sheldon Janos, if you were to build a miniature cabinet of the Voice of the Theatre Speakers with the Diatone Alnico drivers installed what would be the correct square footage of the inside air space? Thanks

Ilandre Rau Hi there....I really appreciate your sharing of your knowledge. Can you plz give some insight into Hedlund horns. I have a pair with Lowther EX4 fitted and would like to hear your thouhts on this. Thank you and keep posting.

mikeythemic Hi I'm interested in Nirvana Audio speakers and found your videos very informative. I'd like to ask you a question but don't know how to get it to you. I've heard about the Doppler Effect with single drivers. I wondered if this is over hyped by other speaker manufacturers. Do the short excursion of the Audio Nirvana drivers solve this? What is your experience with 'Doppler effect?
MrBazsi888 could you please tell us the estimation how this decware 25 anniversary sounds compared to audio note amp's ? i used unison research simply two, and i miss that sound because i sold it in the past.
brucermarino Thanks Janos.
1. Do you assume that your panels are vibrating that your panels are vibrating at frequencies consistent with the Western musical scale and, if so, doesn't follow that they will not sound good with other kinds of music?
2. Taking the analogy of musical instruments a step further, does it follow that guitar shaped cabinets would improve the sound of our speakers?
Thanks so much, my friend.
Lou Reda Hi Janos, hopefully this comment gets through and the you tube algorithm does not delete
me again.MDF sucks and has a very synthetic sound from the epoxy and the consistancy of the sawdust.Real wood gives an aliveness because it is grown over many years and the
wood is very irregular in terms of its grain pattern and possesses a wide resonance pattern
that is lower in amplitude than MDF where the sound can be sucked out and confused.I am
fortuneate that I live in the Pacific North west where there is an abundance of various tone woods like sitka spruce, maple, western red cedar etc. On a budget I would go 1/2 inch Baltic Birch and if you want to go further, experiment with one the aforementioned tone woods. Caution, I do not know which of the above will perform the best so you will have to experiment and it will be very expensive.
Regards Lou
Happy Thanksgiving
Hi Janos, I am not sure what Fostex is doing lately. I have the feeling they are losing the plot a bit when it comes to speaker components. Perhaps they are making more money with other products. The FE103NV2 has a frequency response that I do not like very much. Personally I would go with the FF125WK if choosing Fostex (I like that speaker and have a pair of them). The FF series are designed for base reflex boxes. The FE series is more for back loaded horns. I am very interested in a smaller version loosely based on Le Petit of 10 to 15 liter with the ratio's matching music notes (which will influence the internal volume, hence the variable volume) as per one of your previous videos. I would then also build a slot speaker, but perhaps stuffed lightly with wool like the vintage Dynaco A25 / homage Seas A26. I don.t think it is a Le Petit at that point any more, so you might as well make it a life cabinet. If you are willing to spend time on that, I would love to know what wood at which thickness you would recommend for that. PS, why 10 to 15 liter? I am still thinking of this 3" Tang-Band speaker, the W3-1878 :)
George Hradil @Real World Audio Hi, I am running a TAD 2001 with an Jon Inslow horn and also a midbass horn. I am crossing around 800 Hz using second order cross-over. The efficiency of this speaker is so high that I find the background noise of SET tube amps (Canary Audio 300B mono blocks) to be distractingly loud. Are you L-padding your speakers down to reduce the background noise of tube amps?
Ramsey Edward I have old TV and desktop computer, I wanna build an amplifier out of their parts!!!
Iam Mad I´m confused about sharing, You mean the R4 is 500 Ohm, when it feeds both channels´ tubes (L+R) so there is a double load, while seperated You mean L and R channel are seperated, and so each tube needs 1000 Ohm in order not to be overpowered. So on the original schemata the upper 1626 does not go "to VT4" but has its own R4... ok, now I check it...

Can you combine a very large Voigt pipe (IE one built for a 12-inch driver) with something like a DML panel for the ultimate natural full-range response regardless of whether or not you're on axis?
Andrej J
Hi, Janos! Is there a video that demonstrates the sound of your sistem?
Ramsey Edward
Can we use car's speakers at home in open baffle, no enclosure, system as they are designed to be mounted on dash with the back towards open space!!! Or is it better to use closed enclosures or always use home speakers and avoid car ones?!
Jon Lambert
Is it possible that a live cabinet adds binaural beats to the music such that the music beats at 100hz but the cabinet at 50hz hence at 100hz there is an additional dB bump because 50 goes in to 100 so this extra dB gives the impression of "drive" "impulse" "speed" at certain frequencies. This could also happen with the cabinet interacting with room waves in the same way an instrument would giving the impression of realism that an inert cabinet could not.
Dave In one of your Voigt pipe videos you mentioned the room they are located in is 24' long. This room does not seem that big. Are they in a different room now?

Hi Janos, you speak about double π power filtering. This will increase the sagging of the power supply considerably. The most stable B+ is obtained when the rectifier tube feeds directly in to the choke with a single capacitor at the output of the choke (provided that all the values and currents are calculated well according to the data sheet of the rectifier tube). An other advantage of this is that you will never fry your rectifier tube with an inrush current (unless you do something really stupid). Do you have any thoughts regarding "choke in" versus double π filtering? Darling evolution: SET history (cut short, battery died...)

Ganz liebe Grüße Manni Dortmund-Ruhrpott-Germany Darling evolution: SET history (cut short, battery died...)
Hello Janos, I thank Snake Oil for finding you through him Snake and Janos I've been waiting for guys like this for 30 years. Finally I can build something myself. I wanted to start with the le petit ……. I have to watch all your videos now... It takes a bit longer for me because I have the text translated into German. I would be happy if I could ask a couple of questions :-))) Is it MDF or is it better to use multiplex...?! The PVC pipe or better made of wood?! And I would like to use the Fostex Fe108 EZ. Can I send the original plans? Kind regards Manni Dortmund-Ruhrpott-Germany

Thanks a lot for your insightful videos. I believe it would be very interesting to have a comparison between all the amps you have at your disposal in the specific context of the VOL loudspeaker project. I know you have at least three versions of the Darling, an Ampex and a solid state amp as well. I wonder - once level-matched - which one brings you closer to the music performance. Thanks a lot in advance for your take on this! Vincenzo

Tough to JUMP into your electrical engineering videos. Just tough to get reference point for novice. I understand most of it tho
Hooman R.
Thanks for that explanation..would have been fun to hear you throw in the VP in that comparison :) Questions (1) Mirage is a dead and inefficient speaker, so when you talk about playing that or any "commercial" speaker in your room with the same amps, is that a proper comparison or would it be more "fair" if you used a higher wattage amp? (2) When you are describing the feeling of stone at your feet, is that a sonic characteristic purely based on the VOL's drivers and cabinet decoupled from the floor, or is it a combination of pure sound waves along with the coupling that is happening between the bottom of the cabinet and the floor... basically wondering if VOL best to be isolated from the floor or coupled to it for such experiences and music.
