What We Raise

Boer and boer/kiko cross goats.

How We Raise Them

Our goats are kidded in the barn where shelter helps protect the newborn kids from the cold and sometimes wet weather. A good start to life is key to a healthy goat. The kids will stay with their moms for 75 days and then they are weaned. We feed our goats a mixture of corn and supplements along with free choice hay to create a balanced diet and a healthy immune system.

Like humans, livestock need healthcare from time to time. Our animals receive vaccinations to prevent diseases and other health-related issues common to our area. Goats are wormed as needed, and if a goat has a chronic worm issue it will be removed from our herd and sold at the local sale barn and never sold to our meat customers. We never use antibiotics for growth promotion, but on occasion an injectable antibiotic is needed to help an animal fight off infections or illness. We wouldn’t deny our children proper medical treatment and we care for our livestock the same.
