What We Raise

Angus and Angus cross brood cows.

How We Raise Them

Our cattle are raised on pasture with supplemental hay and corn silage when grasses are limited. After weaning, our calves are supplied grass along with hay and corn silage until they have accumulated enough size to grain finish. The grain finishing process is key to providing marbling, which is sometimes referred to as the “taste fat” which adds flavor to the meat. The process also helps make the meat more tender. Our cattle feed contains corn, soybean meal, and supplements to create a balanced diet.

Like humans, livestock need healthcare from time to time. Our animals receive vaccinations to prevent diseases and other health-related issues common to our area. Cattle will be wormed 1-2 times a year to protect them from parasites common in grazing livestock. We never use antibiotics for growth promotion, but on occasion an injectable antibiotic is needed to help an animal fight off infections or illness. We wouldn’t deny our children proper medical treatment and we care for our livestock the same.
