Dear Year 8,
Welcome back.
I hope you all used the recent holiday as an opportunity to recharge for the Term ahead.
Given the recent turn of events, I understand that for some of you returning to school in an online capacity may leave you feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the importance of remaining positive and focused during this time. Your resilience through these uncharted waters will set you up for a successful future. It is a learning curve for us all, but together we can come out the other side strong and well-positioned for a time where we can return to the regular face-to-face education model.
I thank you all for your commitment so far and encourage you to continue working to achieve your personal best.
Please be reminded of the importance of following your timetable to ensure your routine daily. Please set your alarm at an adequate time prior to the commencement of online learning, ensure you are dressed in school uniform, you exercise self-discipline and your books and resources for the day are organised and nearby.
To keep track of your workload and engage effectively with online learning, you may also consider the following:
· Establish a study plan
· Prioritise work according to due dates
· Use a diary to organise your workload
· Have your timetable visible at all times
· Regularly check your Google Classrooms
· Create to-do lists
· Set time limits
· Stay on schedule
· Organise books and resources you require the night before
· Direct content related questions to your classroom teachers
In addition, it is important to take breaks away from your screen to ensure you remain focused and for your personal wellbeing. Maintaining a well-balanced diet, remaining hydrated, and participating in gentle exercise daily are also of equal importance.
Finally, please remember that within our school community you have a network of support. Please reach out to me if you feel overwhelmed or as though you are not coping with the current environment and I will be happy to work with you on finding a solution. For any emotional or wellbeing concerns, I am always here to listen and assist, as is our school counsellor, Miss Fisher.
