"I'm a farmer, but I'm not exactly a farmer," says fourth-generation shellfish farmer Kate Masury of Rhode Island's Matunuck Oyster Farm. "I don't grow plants or animals; I grow rocks!"
In this video from Food & Wine Magazine, Kate gives us a tour of her farm and explains how her oysters are grown and harvested. She also talks about how shellfish farming is actually good for the environment.
