Blueberry was a small girl who loved blueberries. One day, Blueberry was picking blueberries from a bush. Behind the bush, she found a little dog stuck in the branches. Blueberry helped the pup and fed it blueberries. She took the dog - Sapphire - under her protection. Her family argued - they don't want someone to take care of, and it will be bad reputation for their family if Blueberry picks up the dog. Blueberry refuses to give up Sapphire. Many years later, Sapphire runs to Blueberry. He drops a blueberry at her feet, wagging his tail. Blueberry smiles at his small act of kindness and picks it up. She took one bite out of it, and realized this was no ordinary blueberry. Every bite took away all her sadness, vengeance, anger, hurt, guilt. As she ate the rather big blueberry, she felt a wave of relief and release. She knew that day that she'd made the best decision to keep Sapphire, and her heart wouldn't be content if she hadn't, but her parents thought otherwise. They completely cut her off from the family, and Blueberry was so sad she started to cry. That night, she snuggled up with Sapphire and fell asleep. In her dream, a person appeared. The details were vague, and not descriptive, but what the person said changed her life. "It's ok." The person said. "Do what your heart thinks is right and what will release you. Don't let others pull you down. Remember, if your family will always pull you down, it's time to let go."
"But it's the family I grew up with!" Blueberry cried.
"Do you regret adopting Sapphire?" The person asked.
"No. Not in a chance." Blueberry decided.
"Trust your instinct. This family you grew up with - you claim you love them but do you? Or have you been lying to yourself? Look, everything happens for a reason." was the person's response. "Everything." Then the person disappeared. She woke up with Sapphire snuggled next to her, and decided she wouldn't give up Sapphire for anything. Sapphire looked up and smiled. Later, Blueberry got a call from her mother saying she loved Blueberry and would take her back if she got rid of Sapphire. Blueberry sighed to Sapphire later: "Do they really love me, if they would abandon me for a dog?" Sapphire looked deep into Blueberry's soul, and then purred, as if to say "I don't know". Years later, Blueberry was living a very successful life with Sapphire. Blueberry was content with Sapphire, and had forgotten the hurt her family left her with.
