Point Foundation is a national scholarship organization dedicated to helping LGBTQ+ students seek academic achievement and self-empowerment.
One third of LGBTQ+ identifying students drop out of high school due to bullying, harassment, and violence - as such, many LGBTQ+ don't plan to pursue higher education. Point aims to change this statistic.
In the 2018/2019 academic year, Point Foundation awarded 97 scholarships. Since 2002, PF has awarded just over 400 scholarships to LGBTQ+ students nationwide.
Point Foundation has invested over $35 million into the educational experiences of LGBTQ+ scholars.
Scholarship Funding - their university experience is fully funded by the Foundation
Mentorship - each point scholar is assigned a mentor who supports them throughout their time as a scholar and after graduation.
Leadership Development - Point scholars are also provided with leadership training, and connected with a professional network both during and after college.
Community Service Training - As a requirement of the scholarship program, Point scholars complete a community service project in which they give back to the LGBTQ+ community in some way.
