DTP - Direct to Paper -dabbing your ink pad on your paper to create a colored background. You can use multiple colors doing this. Start with the lightest one first.
Sponging - sponge on ink color. Your sponge equals the texture you want on your work. Cosmetic sponges work well as well as little sea sponges that can add texture.
Stippling - Ink a stencil brush and pounce on the paper. You can do overall color to your paper, or just add some highlights.
