Set in the far future, well after the end of the Industrial Age, the world is mostly water. Over time, as the waters receded around the world, islands began appearing. Giant ships, known as SoEs, set out from various ports at the beginning of the Water Age, slowly began landing on these islands, and rebuilt the world.
SoEs carried everything from animals of the old world to technology, weapons, energy production, and medicine. But the bulk of these ships carried humans. And more than half of these ships disappeared in the century it took for them to find land.
But a few ships found land and prospered. Animals were cared for and released, humans prospered, and medical technology flourished above all.
Witch Island, one of the first islands settled, is the world's foremost location for any technological or medical research of any kind. The residents there live longer than anyone else, some ranging into the mid 200's. Witch Island does not let anyone inside their home without prior approval, though exceptions can be made for those in need of emergency medical help. This is the largest, and most northern, island in the Northern Waters.
Cernu, the center of the Western Region, is the main hub for almost anything art, labor, or anything involving the Seaborne. It's also the only place in the world where you can dive to the Old World Reef, a giant and deep reef formed from the bones of tall buildings that once were above the sea but sunk during the World Flood. The city is large enough to be split into three sections: the Artist District, Labor District, and Hospitality District. A special mention to the Cernu Docks, which is also the Marketplace. Each has its own flair, provides specific goods for the city and most islands around the world, and stays distinct by its design and residents.
Surval, the largest port in the Eastern Seas, is the closest island to the equator, is sometimes considered a mall continent, and is home to the world's largest shipyard. They provide the majority of the world's non-Seaborne ships; sometimes ships are taken elsewhere and sold there but they are built in Surval. One of the islands to have more than one orchard, it also hosts the largest herds of neixe's, horks, and other large livestock.
Little is known about the Southern Ice, as Maelstrom Razora does not allow anyone but her own ships to come and go.
