What is inter-layer short circuit?
The insulation material of the coil (such as enameled wire) may have defects such as air pockets, cracks, or thinning during the production process.
During the winding process, the coil may be scratched during the assembly and riveting stages, leading to insulation damage or perforation.
Over time, the insulation material may degrade, be affected by moisture, or experience other aging effects, leading to a decline in its insulation performance.
Why is inter-layer short circuit testing necessary?
An inter-layer short circuit may cause motor burnout, transformer failure, and other issues.
Detecting and eliminating inter-layer short circuits during the production process helps prevent defective components from being assembled into the final product, reducing the time and cost of disassembly and repair.
It can extend the product's lifespan, improve reliability, and reduce customer complaints and repair costs.
1. Area Size Comparision, AREA
Put the waveforms of the standard coil and the test coil in the specified range, calculate the sum of the waveform areas and compare them to determine the difference between the sum of the areas and the energy loss. The judgment value is expressed as a percentage. When the compared area and the calculation result are less than the set judgment value, the judgment value is qualified; if the result is greater than the set judgment value, the judgment value is unqualified.
2. Area DiffZone Comparison, DIFA
Put the waveforms of the standard coil and the test coil in the specified range, calculate the area difference of the waveforms and compare them to judge the area deviation and inductance value difference between the two. The judgment value is expressed as a percentage. When the calculated result of the area difference after comparison is less than the set judgment value, it is qualified; if the result is greater than the set judgment value, it is unqualified.
3. Comparison Corona Number Comparison, CORON; Corona Amount, COROS
During the high-voltage pulse test of the test coil, the coil defect or material damage will cause corona discharge. Corona number; the sum of the high-frequency magnitude of corona discharge detected by the original waveform is the corona amount. The judgment value is represented by an integer value. When the calculated result of the number (amount) of corona after comparison is less than the set judgment value, the judgment value is qualified; if the result is greater than the set judgment value, the judgment value is unqualified.
4. Corona discharge waveform detection (CDCP)
Test the coil waveform in the specified range, obtain the corona waveform, and judge the maximum value of the corona. The judging value is expressed in integer volts. When the maximum value of the corona waveform is less than the set judging value, it is qualified; if the result is greater than the set judging value, it is unqualified.
5. Inductance value percentage error comparison (LPE)
Calculate the difference between the standard inductance value and the test inductance value by the inductance value of the standard coil and the inductance value of the test coil, and divide it by the percentage result value of the standard inductance value. When the percentage result value is less than the set judgment value is qualified; the result value is greater than the set judgment value is unqualified.
6. Judgment Modes:TPM Three-Phase Motor Testing
In the menu, you can choose T1, T2, or T3 for sampling tests of different phases. The sampling tests should be performed in the order from top to bottom. The results, either in text or waveform comparison, will be displayed in the Results section
1. Value:Text Display Result
From left to right, it displays the comparison results between T1 and T2, T2 and T3, and T3 and T1, respectively. Each section shows the following: A: area sum, D: area difference, N: corona discharge count, S: corona discharge level, L: inductance percentage error, P: corona discharge waveform detection, both inductance values, and the comparison result of the section.
If the results of each item fall within the threshold range, the text will be displayed in black, and the section background color will be green, indicating a pass.
If the results exceed the threshold range, the text will be displayed in yellow, and the section background color will be red, indicating a fail.
2. Waveform:Graph Display Result
The screen will simultaneously display the waveform results and corona discharge results of T1, T2, and T3. T1 is represented by green, T2 by cyan, and T3 by magenta. By using the touchscreen cursor or shuttle keys, you can view the parameter values of specified points in the waveform.
Showing a green PASS if the comparison is successful.
Or a red FAIL if it is unsuccessful.
