Apologize and Repair
We talk a lot about RJ (restorative justice) for students, and it's important that we (the adults in our students' lives) practice what we preach - we walk the talk. We need to be able to apologize frequently, authentically, and with agility - to our students and our co-workers.
To apologize effectively:
Acknowledge your impact.
Give an explanation not excuses.
Express remorse.
Commit to reparation.
