Mitch Wittenberg and I met at a Martin Simpson house concert / Purim gathering, where I overheard him talking about his passion for guitar. I eventually summoned up the courage to ask if he'd be open to my joining him some time, and see what comes. Amazingly, he enthusiastically accepted my offer. I had no idea what to expect, or whether anything compelling would develop.
That first gathering was magic. Mitch took out his guitar and proceeded to play beautifully! I immediately felt compelled to join him on guitar, yet felt the pressure to offer something worthy of his interest. My original offer to explore was not limited to playing guitar, and hearing how good of player he was, had me concerned for what would come of my own contributions.
To my great joy and relief, I was in the zone in those moments, and brought forth what brought huge smiles to each of us!
We proceeded to get together regularly after that profound beginning, where I would record our sessions. Mitch thought we should play out for some gigs, yet I was hesitant (to say the least), and thus declined. This was during the time I was developing my new treVeld and Light of the Moon projects, so my inherent stage fright was significantly diminishing (gratefully)! Thank you Mitch, for the encouragement to take it public!
I'd also been working with Peter Hutter on his material, as he was aiming for a Cedar Cultural Center show. Miraculously, all of this eventually led to Peter asking Mitch and I to join him as the opener for his Cedar event.
Here we go !
