Opertum in English

Welcome

Thank you for visiting the official site of the Proyecto Opertum. My name is Jose and I studied Veterinary Medicine at the UANL. Later on, I obtained a degree of Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) from Dr. Jan Suchodolski and Dr. Joerg Steiner at Texas A&M University. I dedicate most of my life to the study of complex communities of microorganisms (visit my website) and I am a big passionate of spreading something I call Intellectual Nutrition.

Our objective

The objective of the Proyecto Opertum is simple: to promote Intellectual Nutrition.

Our story

While I was a student at Texas A&M, I was invited to "judge" the work of young students at a local science fair in Robertson county. It was this experience that made us think about the importance of sharing and communicating scientific thoughts into the minds and souls of next generations. By the time I came back to Mexico at the end of 2011, the objective was clear and we did not hesitate to create a program of Free Sciences Classes in collaboration with a local elementary school and the UANL. Here you can read more about this story.

What is in this webpage?

This web page is interesting because of several reasons.

First, it contains a small list of useful references and other resources related to education.

Second, it contains our proposal to improve the education, particularly in elementary schools.

Third, it contains a record of photographs and videos about our different activities and projects.

Finally, it also contains information about the activities that we do or collaborate with. The main message of this section is to promote among others the idea that everything is possible.
