What Do These 10 Project Management Terms Mean?
Sponsor - Authority, funding, champion, promotion
Stakeholder - Anyone with a stake(affected by any decision) in the project.
Steering Committee - High level stakeholder, guidance, strategy, roadblock removal, general approval/feedback, etc.
Scope Statement - Describes the project. Boundaries set for what will and will not happen within the project.
Gold Plating - (not necessarily a good thing) extra features/flexions to product, project or service not included in the scope. Should be done by the team with no cost to the project, but careful this doesn't hurt the project flow in any detrimental way.
Scope Creep - Uncontrolled Changes
Charter - Document that kicks off the project. Includes objectives, scope statement, deliverables, risk assumptions, expectations, roles, etc
WBS - Work Breakdown Structure. How it works, Project deliverables (chronological/hierarchical order).
Action Plan - Work Plan/Schedule/Structure/Task Lists, Responsibilities, expectations & deadlines.
Risk Planning - Systematic approach to identifying failures.
