Our Mental Health & Psychology major studies human behavior and mental processes, including the mind, brain and social interactions. This major examines the science of human behavior and mental processes. Mental Health & Psychology includes the study of the mind, the brain, and social interactions.
As a student in the Mental Health & Psychology program, you will have countless opportunities to join forces with Promise students across many majors and clubs to gain the knowledge and skills skill base required to analyze and react to situations and environments. Students in this major may focus on various concentrations of Mental Health, Neurology, Psychology and related fields.
All psychology majors complete a set of foundation courses that teach the history and breadth of the field.

General Psychology
Statistics and Experimental Methods I
Fundamentals of Biopsychology and Behavior
Statistics and Experimental Methods II
Senior Capstone
For further exploration in a particular area, students can select one of six emphases: clinical, social, developmental, cognitive, biopsychology or organizational. Students can also select a more general curriculum of various courses from all six areas.

MAJOR
Undergraduate students in any degree program are able to participate in undergraduate research. Several options exist to show mentored undergraduate research activity on a student’s official transcript. Those who wish to enroll in an undergraduate research course/unit should consult with their academic advisor to understand how the credit will apply towards the degree requirements. If no credit is needed, students may be eligible to enroll in the 0-credit IDS 4914 course/unit. This course /unit will not impact degree credits or GPA but will show on an official transcript and document the experience. The Office of Undergraduate Research is able to assist with further inquiries.
