The Variety and Entertainment major allows students to study art and media management, how to handle, promote, and market talents, video and audio production, how to best reach fans and consumers, and public image management.
As a Variety and Entertainment student you will be given opportunities to study Journalism, social media platform management, content production, talent scouting, entertainment analysis, and more.
The program focuses on:
Journalism Across Digital Platforms
Business and financial management
Labor relations for the arts
Event promotion and management
Product and artist management
Multimedia production
Upon completion of the program, students will be well qualified to pursue jobs as Agents and Business Managers of Artists, Media managers, event promoters and advertisers, talent management, video media hosts,
Finally, our program curriculum and multitude of research opportunities offered by our faculty place students in a prime position to continue in graduate school to further advance their career.

MAJOR
Undergraduate students in any degree program are able to participate in undergraduate research. Several options exist to show mentored undergraduate research activity on a student’s official transcript. Those who wish to enroll in an undergraduate research course/unit should consult with their academic advisor to understand how the credit will apply towards the degree requirements. If no credit is needed, students may be eligible to enroll in the 0-credit IDS 4914 course/unit. This course /unit will not impact degree credits or GPA but will show on an official transcript and document the experience. The Office of Undergraduate Research is able to assist with further inquiries.
