Competition for younger students (2nd and 3rd grades)
On 15th March, 2018, students from grades 1 to 7 were very active in this year's "Mathematics Day". The motto of the feast day was "Mathematics is everywhere." The special guest of our holiday was representative of City Hall in Sosnowiec and community Mr Jan Bosak, who throughout the entire period watched the classes and participated in them. The day began from the International Mathematics Competition ‘Kangaroo’, attended by students from grades 3-7. After the competition, the students began to play mathematical game in classes 1-3 and in classes 4-7.
Students from grades 1-7 took part in the School Mathematics and Photography Competition "Mathematics is everywhere". 24 competition photographs were sent, among which winners re selected.
‘Mathematical coding on the carpet’ - lesson for students from grades 1-2. Children love lessons with mats and colourful cups, which are very attractive for them. Thanks to these activities, children learn critical and logical thinking.
Students from 1-2 grades were struggling with programming and ‘Mathematical wobbles of ozobots’. Students from 2nd grades invented the routes of the ozobots, weaving in them mathematical activities. The students from 1st grades, had to order the days of the week by programming the route to be overcome by the robot.
Students from 3rd grades took part in the spectacular ‘Mathematical Millionaire of the 3rd Class’ Tournament. Double teams had to give answer on 20 questions.
For the first time, parents and students took part in the Mathematics Day. For this group organized activities with Tangrams and Origami. As it turned out, laying Tangrams (a popular puzzle in China) was not as easy as it might seem
Students from grades 4-7 took part in the Mathematical Game ‘Treasure Hunt’. The students had to prove their efficiency in order to defeat the complicated maze and reach the hidden treasure.
‘Mathematics in everyday life’ - activities for 4-7 grades:
CLASSES 4 - students solved tasks related to cash calculations, used the offer of a sports store;
CLASSES 5 - the pupils ‘played’ in the shop, weighed, exchanged units, calculated the cost of shopping;
CLASS 6 - students planned a trip and used train timetables;
CLASS 7 - students calculated the actual distance traveled from a given place to the destination, calculated the cost of fuel.
While the students in the classes were solving the prepared tasks, on the school corridor, a group of students from grades 5 - 7 were preparing two mock-ups of the housing estate. The students showed unusual ingenuity in this task.
is a series of classes in mathematics education, which were conducted for students of grades 1st (6-7 years old) by the 6th grade students. They taught them how to arrange a Chinese folk puzzle called Mathematical Tangram. They were not one-time activities run by older colleagues, because next classes have already been planned
On 17 December a Christmas Mathematical Contest of grades 2-3 took place. Pupils who applied for the competition were individually struggling with competition tasks. We met the best, youngest mathematicians on December 21.
At six hectares of green space there are unique, large devices intended to encourage thinking and teach, but also entertain so that learning becomes enjoyable, regardless of age. The devices are placed in subject groups – optics, hydrostatics, acoustics, and mechanics.
