CISET- International Centre of Studies on Tourist Economics is a non-profit research organisation established 20 years ago -in 1991 -by Ca' Foscari University of Venice, the Italian Touring Club and the Veneto Regional Government. CISET mission and the heart of its activities is to promote tourism as an engine of economic growth and social development, capable of producing material and cultural wealth for local, national and international businesses and destinations.

Throughout the years CISET developed a particular approach that is a perfect blend of academic expertise and business know-how, based on a strong synergy between research studies and consultancy services – conducted exclusively by CISET or in collaboration with national and international partners – and on the experience in tertiary education and management training.

During the years, CISET created and coordinated different programmes for education, life-long learning and vocational training for entrepreneurs, managers, and executives employed in hospitality and tourism business, students, unemployed people, start-uppers, using a wide range of methodologies and approaches. Some of these projects have been implemented within ESF programmes, while others were directly commissioned by businesses (Sofitel), destination management organisations.

In 1993 CISET started the organisation and management of the annual Master's programme in the "Economics and Management of Tourism". Since 2003, this Master's programme has become a “University Master's programme offered at Ca' Foscari University of Venice and coordinated by the Department of Management in cooperation with CISET. Within this programme a “students’ consultancy” activity was implemented since 2005 coordinated by Federica Montaguti, a researcher at CISET.
