Salesforce Troubleshooting Tips

Salesforce Troubleshooting Tips

The following are a few resources and tips as you get starting using Salesforce's Learning Platform, Trailhead.

Resources

Throughout the course you will get stuck when completing the exercises. I found it useful to first google my error message (and include salesforce or trailhead in the error message) to see if there are any other users out there who have had the same issues. I often found the answers within the blogs and questions asked by other users going through the same Trailmix and Trail.

SALESFORCE TRAILBLAZER COMMUNITY

Search within the Trailblazer Salesforce Learning Community for your answer. Use the trail name and error message.

Direct links to tutorials and troubleshooting tips can be found directly via google, too. Most times I would get different results than I would when directly in the Salesforce Trailblazers community.

Troubleshooting Tips

  1. Learn from your MISTAKES! If you are not sure, go ahead and click submit. Often the error message will help assist you in determining what you can change to move forward. Incorrect answers on quizzes do not permit you from moving forward. If needed, you can retake the quiz or resubmit the Trailhead.

  2. It's in the Details! Pay attention to names and spellings. Titles need to be exactly as they are in the instructions to pass the Trailhead. Also, the instructions can be a bit tedious and may call for you to read through them once or twice to capture all of the nuances of the challenge.

  3. Wait for the Playground...the real Salesforce environment is coming. When you start a Trailhead, you are answering a lot of informational questions, first. After a few trails, you will start to interact with data and content with a Salesforce online environment called Trailheads.

  4. More than ONE Trailhead Playground. You may be asked to use a current or create a new Trailhead Playground when completing a trail. Pay attention to this ask to determine if you need new information or are working against already manipulated content. Also, if you think you lost your data or files is not showing, check that you are in the correct playground. Click on the vertical ... to access and launch other playgrounds.

  5. You can move Around. Sometimes I did get stuck like on "Data Security" and moved to the next Trail in the Trailmix to clear my head a bit, get a small win, and go back to conquer the Trail giving me trouble.

  6. Where are my Trailhead Playgrounds and Orgs? You may need to reference your Trailhead Playgrounds or Create a new one. Here is how to access and manage your orgs/playgrounds.

  7. Why can't I work on the Superbadge, yet? All Salesforce Trailhead work and badges/certifications are free. Salesforce wants you to learn how to use their product. You will have access to the Superbadge once you complete the Business Administration Trailmix. It provides access automatically.

  8. Entitlement Management and Salesforce Environment. There are still a few things you will need to do in Salesforce Classic vs. Lightning. Linking products to entitlements is one of them.

  9. In the BA SuperBadge Content student used the following YouTube channel of video tutorials (channel: Salesforce Training Tutorials) and said was super helpful.
