Alguien dijo una vez, cuando no tienes dinero, amigos y muy poco sentido común, entre comillas, sin comillas, lo que la historia ha demostrado ... que generalmente vale la pena, es la perseverancia; es decir, sigues adelante. Sigue preguntando. Esa es la forma compensatoria. Quiero decir (la situación es) que no están respondiendo tus preguntas. Entonces, cuando haces una pregunta, se supone que debes obtener una respuesta; entonces es (que necesitas) una respuesta constructiva para hacer qué? Resolver un problema; porque todos los problemas se resuelven mediante el proceso de preguntas y respuestas. Y aparentemente eso es un problema.

Y amenazaron con un motín (porque) dijeron que "ni siquiera tenemos mapas de adónde vamos, así que podríamos ir al fin de la tierra, y el barco simplemente se caería del fin de la tierra". Porque no sabían que el mundo era redondo, así que algunas personas dijeron eso en ese momento, y Colón dijo "bueno, ya que no podemos dar marcha atrás, solo vamos a seguir navegando, navegando y navegamos, hasta que lleguemos a alguna parte porque no vamos a regresar.

Y entonces sabes, la persistencia (eso es lo que es) y dicen que a lo largo de la historia las personas que persistieron han tenido algo de éxito en todo lo que se propusieron hacer. Entonces, en respuesta a la pregunta: sigue haciendo lo que estás haciendo. Y si siguen diciéndote (a ti) "¿por qué sigues haciendo esto?" dirás (porque) es lo correcto. Lo que estoy haciendo es lo correcto. Estoy tratando de resolver este problema. Esto es un problema. Y desde,Sigo diciéndole a la gente que es un problema y me dicen que no se va a solucionar; pero es un problema (entonces) es mi deber, en este trabajo, seguir señalándolo, hasta que alguien haga algo.

Y hay todo tipo de ejemplos. Acabo de dar (el ejemplo de) Shawshank, una película, una película de ficción, sobre algo. Pero eh ... y un ... Cristóbal Colón aparte como un ejemplo, tal vez algunos ejemplos irregulares. Pero son ejemplos.

Pero esa cita, es la cita, que alguien hizo hace muchos años. "Si no tienes amigos, dinero y muy poco sentido común, lo único que la historia ha demostrado que vale la pena, es lo que se llama persistencia", lo que significa que sigues ... hacer lo correcto y seguir haciéndolo una y otra vez, independientemente de lo que digan los demás. Porque eso es lo que hay que hacer.

La otra opción es dejar lo todo, abandonarlo. Y esa no es una opción, en la lógica compensatoria. Esa no es una opción, la de abandonarlo. No te rindes, incluso cuando la gente dice eso ... Como la gente me ha dicho a lo largo de los años: "Fuller, más vale que te rindas. El problema racial no se puede resolver. Y yo dije" entonces eso es todo más razón por la que sigo tratando de resolverlo aunque alguien dice que no puede. Persistencia, y me quedo con eso hasta el día de hoy.

You continue to ask. Just like Andy Dufresne,I usually use that movie Shawshank redemption as an example. Persistence. Someone once said, when you don't have any money, any friends, and very little sense, quote-unquote the thing that history has shown to ...that usually pays off - is persistence; meaning - you keep on keeping on. You just keep on asking. That's the compensatory way. I mean (the situation is) they're not answering your questions. So when you ask a question you're supposed to get an answer; that is (you need) a constructive answer in order to do what? Solve a problem; cause all problems are solved through the process of questions and answers. And apparently that is a problem.

So just like an Andy Dufresne in the movie Shawshank redemption someone... He proposed that they get a new library in the prison that he was in. And the warden told him, see, you know, they're not thinking about putting this library in this prison.(He) said you know, they're just talking about more bars, and more guards. And not anything... It's privileged stuff - like a library, in this prison. So you're not going to get that, and he says but I'd like to try. "Okay, well, yeah oh well, if you want to try, if you want to send to the legislature some letters. I mean and get them to appropriate money for a library in this prison. Go right ahead. I'll help. I'll mail them for you." that's what the warden told the prisoner. And so the prisoner actually started writing a letter, and kept writing them, and they kept rejecting his letters, and rejecting them, and rejecting them, and rejecting them and he kept writing the same letters. You know? "Hey, we need a library, we need a library, we need a library, we need a library," so finally they just got tired. So (the result was) you wore them down. And it worked in that particular case, of course (because) that was a movie. But like I said. It's an old saying that goes way back, about that (thing called) persistence. I mean (like the case of ) Columbus, uh when he was stealing.

And it is Christopher Columbus I understand. (There is) some story about that - about persistence. When all of his sailors wanted to turn back. And they threatened a mutiny (because) they said "we don't even have maps, of where we are going, and so we might go to the end of the earth, and the ship would just fall off the end of earth." because they didn't they're they know that the world was round, so some people said at that time, and Columbus said "well since we can't turn back, we're just going to sail on, sail on, and sail on, until we get somewhere because we're not going back.

And so you know persistence (that's what it is) and they say all down through history people who persisted have been somewhat successful in whatever they set out to do. So in answer to the question: just keep doing what you're doing. And if they keep saying (to you) "why do you keep doing this?" you'll say (because) it is the correct thing to do. What I'm doing is the correct thing to do. I'm trying to get this problem solved. This is a problem. And since,

I keep telling people that it is a problem, and I am told that it is not going to be addressed; but it is a problem (then) it is my duty, on this job to keep pointing it out, until somebody does something.

And there's all kinds of examples. I just gave the Shawshank, a movie, a fictional movie, about something. But uh ...and a...Christopher Columbus aside as an example, maybe a raggedy examples. But they are examples.

But that quote - is the quote - that somebody made many years ago. "If you don't have any friends, any money, and very little sense, the one thing that history has shown that pays off - is the thing called persistence" - which means, you keep on... You figure out what is the correct thing to do, and just keep on doing that thing over, and over again, regardless or what anybody's says. Because that's the thing to do.

The other option is to quit, and that's not an option, in compensatory logic. That is not an option you don't quit. You don't quit, even when people say that... Like people have said to me down through the years "Fuller, you might as well give up. The race problem can't be solved. And I said "that's all the more reason why I'm a keep trying to solve it though somebody's saying it can't. Persistence, and I stick with that to this very day.

"Say well it might take a thousand years." I say "I don't care how long it takes: thousand years, or four o'clock this evening" "hey you keep on, keeping on regardless" why? Because that's the correct thing to do. That's why. You always do the correct thing. Even if it looks like it's going nowhere - it's the correct thing to do. Why deviate? You don't ever deviate from doing the correct thing. "
