3. Go to Track 4's SEQ

The main keypad is now focused on rhythm development. Note playback is removed as specific note values are no longer relevant with [MELT] on.

.

[MELT]

[MELT] lets us program a unique rhythm in one track that also plays the note values laid out in a separate track.

For our example we'll use [MELT] to create a unique bass-line that follows the lowest note of our chord progression in track 2.

*Note: using [MELT] in track 2 has no impact on the source track's (1) output.

Keypad Modes with [MELT]

Rhythm Keypad

Get quick access to groove related controls like velocity and length. Without pitch to think about we're free to let the rhythm take control.

Tone Filter Keypad

Although we don't have access to exact pitch we can still create magic with [MELT'S] note filters and shifters. Select specific notes from the source track input and pitch them away from their source for added harmonic intrigue.

Our Earlier Example

But, note filter is applied to trigs 2, 3, and 4 in track 2

.

3. Adding Trigs

Let's keep it simple and make quick little sequence. Then, becuase we want this to be bass, we'll use FUSE to limit the output to the lowest note.

But This is Bass! We Only Need the Lowest Note

Now we'll be playing the lowest note from our chord sequence transposed down an octave to the rhythm set in this track.

.

4.  Changing Track Velocity

Every track has a master velocity mixer. Because this is MIDI, volume isn't a factor. Instead Prism offsets the outgoing velocity of all the notes in a track by a %.

a. Go to [Track Select]

b. Adjust 'Velocity' up/down

"You may want to sit down for this.

Press Play
