Patterns & Scenes

1. Selecting Patterns & Scenes

Every track has 8 patterns. Each pattern contains independent SEQ, FUSE, and ARP settings.

Every song has 8 scenes. Each scene takes note of what pattern every track is playing, at what velocity offset, and if it's muted.

Together, patterns and scenes let you grow and experiment with your ideas until they begin to form the structure of a complete song

[PATTERNS]

Each pattern starts as empty. Build it up from scratch or copy and paste an existing pattern. Simply press an existing pattern to set it as active for playback and edit.

[SCENES]

Setting a captured scene to active resets all track’s active patterns, mutes, and velocity to reproduce what was playing when this scene was last active.

Selecting an empty scene copies all the scene data from the current to the new one. You’ll notice playback doesn’t change. Make updates do the scene relevant settings within the tracks to differentiate the scene.

[NOTE 1] There is no need to update or save scenes. They automatically update as you make changes.

[NOTE 2] Scenes don’t contain pattern data, only a reference to the playing pattern. If pattern A is in scene 1 and 2 and you edit pattern A while in scene 2, you’ll hear the pattern changes in scene 1 as well.

[NOTE 3] Velocity and mute info is stored in the scene. The same pattern can have different mute and velocity settings per scene, and this includes each drum pad if it's a drum track.

2. Creating Patterns

Creating a New Pattern

Let's create a second drum pattern

Next we'll switch up our chords with a new pattern in track 2

[TRACK SELECT] -> [Track 2 / Chords] ->       [Pattern | Scene Keypad]

Instead of starting P:2 from scratch let's copy over what we had in P:1

To Copy a Pattern: While pressing the copy button press the intended pattern to copy

To Paste a Pattern: While pressing the paste button press the Intended pattern to paste to

For a simple change we'll reduce the length of P:2 to 1 bar, thus looping a single chord

[SEQ SETUP] -> [Bars = 1] -> [SEQ]

Press play to hear the changes. Notice how track's 3 and 4 now follow our new pattern in track 2

.

3. Capturing & Playing Scenes

Press S:2 to capture a new scene

Let's leave S:1 as this simpler thing with only a single chord. In scene 2 we'll go back to our full chord progression and drum pattern.

To set S:2 to play our full drum pattern

[TRACK SELECT] -> [Track 1] -> [Pattern | Scene Keypad] -> [P:1]

To set S:2 to play our full chord pattern

[Track 2] -> [Pattern | Scene Keypad] -> [P:1]

Switch between S:1 & S:2 to hear the differences
