I was able to successfully achieve Outcome 5 through my participation in a quality improvement (QI) project. The focus of this project was addressing the issue of multiple missed patient calls and clinic representatives’ failure to respond to voice messages in a timely manner. The quality improvement team members (QITMs) identified this as a potential safety risk for patients who were unable to reach their providers for urgent concerns. As a response, QITMs implemented an educational intervention to address these issues. While the project achieved only modest success, we felt confident that our efforts contributed to promoting a culture of patient safety.
