Leopold didn't follow through with Gar's request for him to kill Darreth. Battle ensued!
This fight was crazy, not least of all because Gar cast control water and filled the room with oily, stinking water, submerging them beneath twenty feet of it.
But the Air Elemental Myrmidon controlled by Leopold could fly, so it avoided being submerged. Gar dismounted his giant crocodile and walked atop the water to the top of the ziggurat, standing over the captor, Darreth. Kahntun and Alexander rushed him, Leopold cast invisibility on himself and sought the high ground.
LiKi was submerged and moving slowly, she cast blink on herself to avoid being attacked.
Alexander released his water weird which killed the minor water cultists. The giant croc attacked the air elemental, knocking it out of charm. Leopold was saddened by this. In the end, the party had to slay all the water cultists and Leo's air pet. He dropped a tear into the filmy water.
Kahntun destroyed Gar who he had taken a vow of enmity against, delivering a critical hit and a divine smite for 6d8+8 damage! His rolls added up to 48.
For a simple fisherman, this Womfordian was a fountain of knowledge!
The party conversed with the prisoner whom they freed and resuscitated when Kahntun laid hands upon him. Here is what they discussed:
Travelling through the ever more treacherous Dessarin Valley.
They stopped in Red Larch, checked in with the town, then traveled south along the Cairn Road. After a beer in Bargewright, they crossed over to Womford where they heartily welcomed. True to his word, Darreth ferried the group up the Dessarin. When they passed Rivergard Keep, the castle was shrouded in both an impenetrable layer of fog and a grim foreboding. Before long they went ashore along the western bank of the river and carefully made their way through the wild lands of the Sumber Hills until they found their way back to the secret tunnel leading into the basement of the Alamo, err . . . the Sacred Stone Monastery. From there they descended the stone stairs into the Temple of Black Earth!
