In crafting a rating scale, I learned that it must be in directive form. Although I reported on this topic, I did not apply what I had learned in crafting one, so, understandably, I got a lower score. Throughout this learning process, I gained a profound appreciation. The pivotal role that a well-designed rating scale plays in evaluating student affective areas and enriching the teaching and learning experience. It prompted me to interrogate my assumptions and biases about the nature of student development in the affective domain, challenging me to broaden my perspective and embrace a more holistic approach to education.
