As we welcome another academic year, the Parliamentary League of Students in Politics (P-POL) is excited to virtually collaborate with the new breeds of Political Science Students who responded affirmatively to our invitation to join us in our crusade and conviction to animate virtue, bravery, and excellence in all of our endeavors as agents of positive change and social transformation.
The COVID-19 pandemic may have physically constrained us to see each other, however, our collective resolve as a family and a community has consistently motivated us to courageously face the problems and challenges that lie ahead before us. With each Member of Parliament's help and support, we are confident that everything is possible and nothing is impossible in a team that works together to make the dreams work.
As a community of Christ-centered evangelizers, we are all invited to live Christ and share Christ. We can only respond to the call if we do what we are expected to do with greater labor, love, and care. Love only grows by sharing. We can only have more for ourselves by giving it away to others. When we serve our brethren in faithful love, we reveal the goodness of God in them.
Anchored on the theme “Virtue, Bravery, and Excellence: Towards a Stronger Parliament,” the P-POL will strive to work harder within its available ways and means to cause meaningful and inclusive social reforms for the common good of our society. The theme highlights the three-pronged principles of the organization: Virtue, Bravery, and Excellence (ViBE).
Virtue is a behavior showing high moral standards. The present time categorically suggests that there are unwarranted cultural and social changes, which adversely affect the way we live our lives. These changes, however popular, will be inimical to our society if they are contrary to public policy and public morals. Virtue is imperative in our search for the truth. It is non-negotiable. Despite the temptations that malign the significance of virtue, the P-POL commits to uphold it in word and deed.
Bravery is the quality or state of exhibiting moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty. The P-POL will conduct strategic and innovative mechanisms to promote bravery in its academic, organizational, and institutional endeavors in partnership with the other stakeholders of the HCDC Community.
Excellence is a talent or quality which is unusually good and so surpasses ordinary standards. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is not an act, but a habit. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives - choice, not chance, determines one’s destiny. No matter how challenging our current situation is, the P-POL will relentlessly exhibit excellence in the areas of instruction, research, and extension.
May each one of us serve as an inspiration to one another as we overcome the hurdles of the new normal and as we continually adjust to the ever-changing demands of the world we live in.
We can only dream together if we work together.
ARISE!
HAIL HOLY CROSS!
Holy Cross of Davao College is working to extend its present boundaries – academically, physically and spiritually. As it moves forward, it remains rooted in the tradition of its founders and their successors. It is a center of Catholic formation for young men and women as it lives out the commitment of the RVM Sisters, the PME Fathers and the Archdiocese of Davao.
The revival of Holy Cross of Davao College is not a single event but a continuing process integral to its Administration, Research, Instruction, Spirituality, and Engagement (ARISE). These shall be the pillars and the guiding principles behind the mission, formation, and action of Holy Cross of Davao College.
Holy Cross of Davao College has opened its doors – a renewed, revitalized, and restructured institution ready to serve the community.
