2nd Period

The second perios started better being in a higher level class. The vocabulary was a bit challenging but also useful.  They learne words from a so called dictionary part of the book:

Each chapter is a different topic. We talked but mainly read about green lifestyle, environmental issues. My favourtite task here was quite creative. We had questions in the classroom app then we had to find the answers in the article we got with our partners.  Then we were assigned to group where we had to ask and answer those questions aloud and then compile it in a podcast.

Here it is our podcast: https://voca.ro/1aXXScjNULyh

(I was a bit nervous because of recording so I mispronounced some words but I really learned them. Sorry)

We had to write short strories related to the topic. For example:

Branching out

Write a short composition of 80-100 words on one of the following topics:

1. My experience with a tree

2. A tree I won't forget

3. Killer trees

4. Trees in literature

5. Green cathedrals

6. Once a tree

7. Whispering leaves

Focus especially on the adjectives as you are describing something to the reader. Remember that you are not allowed to use the following words: big, nice, beautiful.

We had a research work from the local paper. I appreciated the teacher's extra work as we were assigned a separate task every time when the finnish students assignemets included for example translation. We had to use the Open Abitreene autumn-20, practice test. Then we  entered the answers to the reading comprehension section in the attached Forms. The material was on the the Abitreenie page.

The teacher created separate end of module exam tasks for us because the others had the instructions in Finnish.

The writing task was quite new for me. We had to create a piece of news by choosing one of the published photos. As you see the attached work I have done a great work creating a conspiracy theory about alien attack.

I was astonished to see that it was very monotonious, the rarely talk anf have loud conversations. The teacher also speaks more Finnish than English. I am wondering why is that anybody in Helsinki has a very good command of English in spite of the fact that the lessons are suprisingly dull and not focusing on productive skills.

It may be because I am used to better English lessons, more active classes, higher English level and these classes were none of this so I felt let down.
