1st Period

Our teacher : Kati Sinkkonen

English first period was a bumpy road because we were assigned to an almost beginner group (level 4) where the vocabulary work was on an acceptable B2 level but the grammar part was very basic (prepositions, time expressions)

Then we asked a higher level so we changed to level 7.  The vocabulary was more demanding, we worked almost the same level as home. The tasks were very general and the lessons were quite boring. The grammar was still on intermediate level:

The whole course was based on a coursebook accompanied by some mini presentations.

We had a lot of reading and listening tasks which are very similar to FCE or CAE. It was also loud reading to peers-

One our first projects was creating an adverisemet poster with a catchy slogan.

We had to choose a common object from the classroom and our task was to create a commercial ad to sell the product. It had to be eye-catching with a  memorable slogen and the atmosphere (colours, form) of the poster had to be in harmony with the object.

One of the aims of my stay in Finland was to improve my English but the lessons did not give me this satisfaction. I am happy though that I talked to a lot of students and my host family so I had the opportunity to practice the language.
