During today class, we have ve discussing the use of social media and phones in general. We have talked about healthy habits concerning technology, so we needed to analyse we spent using them and ask ourselves if we are wasting time or if we are using our time properly.
In my case, it was very obvious that I waste a lot of time scrolling in my networks, however, I was not aware of how much time I have lost in doing so. Nonetheless, nowadays, these same technologies allow us to measure the time spent in those social media.
After searching for my Play Store, I found an app called App Usage that helps me to track my use of phone and time using each app, after using it for a week, I had to check my usage and I was surprised by how much time I have wasted using them.
I will now attach the document I have download with the data recorded during the week from 2nd November to 9th November:
As you can see in the file previously shown, I spend many hours in my phone, using social media that are not useful for me, and now, I am very concern about that wasted time. To improve my productivity and make me aware of the use of my social media, I also looked for another app that helps me focus. It is called 'Forest' and it helps the user to keep focus and spend time without using the phone. It's very useful, first, you decide how much time do you need to be focus on any activity, then, you can choose which kind of tree you want to grow, and finally, you just need to let your phone away and the tree will grow if you complete your challenge. However, if you took your phone to enter any app, the tree will die and you will have a death forest.
After analysing my phone usage, I used that app during the month to reduce my timing using the phone and here is the result!:
As a conclusion, I must say that I was not aware of the time I spend not being productive, if you had asked me before doing this activity, I would have said I did not spend more than an hour a day, but the results show drastic results. Nevertheless, paradoxically, thanks to new technologies as well, we are now able to correct that worrisome habit and be able to improve our relationships with new technologies
