God collage

I had a lot of fun making this collage. At first I didn't have a plan. I wanted to use this image I had cut out of a mirror and I added what felt right to me. Somewhere along the way it turned into a deity. 

Since then people have given this artwork pretty meaningful interpretations. About how worshiping a god always reflects back what you bring to it, be it hate or love. The irony here is that this artwork also reflects their own interpretation (and thus worldviews) back at them.

I also really like combining this with my view on art. Art for me is always seeing yourself in what you are not. Bringing yourself into paper, feeling compassion for a sculpture. Making art and praying would be the same thing then, to have what you bring to it reflect back at you.
