The project was very challenging, but it didn’t fail. For the first two and a half out of the five months, I was going relatively according to plan. I was developing the Google Docs add-in by doing research, implementing, validating with the software development team, and then repeating the validation process. I was confronted with time delays due to the complication of the product but after speaking with the team leads, it seemed to be something expected. I learn from that experience which will help me in the future for my own time management and managing expectations in a project.
In the beginning I found difficulties navigating through the big pile of tasks. Despite not having an established agile tool at the time, I did underestimate the difficulty of the project which backfired in the last months. In my next project I would definetely focus more on time and risk management while planning things in advance.
From my perspective, I did excellent job in terms of code usability both by setting the foundations for Google Docs and by creating the authentication flow and app. Something I had a lot more experience were soft skills like documenting in Confluence and following Jira tickets to deadlines (which I have to admit was really difficult). I did appreciate the communication and assistance of my colleagues.
