This presentation takes common understandings or misunderstandings of assessments and breaks them down for educators. This slide deck overviews the different design concepts for assessments and outlines appropriate times for use, weighing pros and cons for each assessment format.
A presentation like this can easily be shared with educators as a part of a professional development day or segment, it reminds veteran teachers of assessment formats and informs all educators of key concepts to consider when developing, revising, or using an assessment to ensure it aligns properly with assessment goals.
This artifact benefited me greatly as an educator of 5+ years. As mentioned, it gave me a reminder that assessment can be several different things and it is up to me as an educator to evaluate these formats and determine which form of assessment best aligns with the targeted learning goals.
This is something I can review or share with my team, especially when it comes to opportunities to review or revise assessments in the coming years to ensure we are designing an assessment that meets our needs.
Professional learning opportunities are essential for the continued development of educators to ensure they genuinely understand new initiatives and best practices within the classroom. The professional development (linked to the right) overviews how to effectively implement restorative practices within the classroom.
This presentation pairs with a written instructional design sample of how it can be utilized along with an appendix, featuring resources and material that pair with the learning experience.
When developing this resource it was clear that the development of professional learning is an extensive, researched based process, it is more than simply creating a presentation to be shared. I plan to use this artifact and share it with other educational professionals struggling to grasp how to begin implementing and/or integrating restorative practices into their classrooms and schools.
