NEOBCA Division I Assistant Coach of the Year Ron Spears (Roosevelt)

Ron Spears has stood faithfully by Mike Haney's side for nearly two decades as the two have helped turned Roosevelt into one of the top baseball teams in the area. That included a tricky switch from the Portage Trail Conference to the Suburban American, but the two have made the Rough Riders highly competitive, including revamping the youth program. With Spears' intense focus on fielding excellence, in particular, Roosevelt can always be counted upon to be fundamentally sound.

NEOBCA Division II Coach of the Year Joe Peterson (Field)

For many years, Joe Peterson has run one of the best baseball programs in the area. The Falcons have racked up myriad conference titles and successfully toppled a number of bigger area schools. Still, Field had never broken through for a district championship, at least until their trip to Bob Cene Park this season. The Falcons' draw wasn't easy but led by their Blonde Bombers, Caleb Gartner and Braxton Baumberger, they managed to win pitchers' duels over Ursuline (4-1) and Canfield (3-2) in the district semifinal and championship game, respectively.

Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Grey Tier Co-MVP Eric Geddes (Garfield junior)

Like the Falcons, the G-Men went on their longest postseason run in nearly a decade this year, helped by their ace, Eric Geddes. The junior went 9-1 with a 1.30 ERA, including big-time winning performances in the sectional championship game against Cardinal Mooney and the district semifinal against Kirtland. Geddes finished the season with a staggering 91 strikeouts against just 15 walks in 65 innings. The junior also hit .456 with 17 of his 41 hits going for extra bases, including 15 doubles.

Suburban American Co-Player of the Year Ben Schechterman (Aurora senior)

The Greenmen ace played a big role in his team earning a share of the Suburban American title for the second straight season, going 4-3 with a 1.72 ERA. The Ohio State commit had 69 strikeouts against just 20 walks in 40⅔ innings and also led Aurora at the plate in batting average (.397), RBIs (24), doubles (6) and triples (3).

Suburban American Co-Coach of the Year Trent Dalton (Aurora)

All Trent Dalton has done since taking over the helm along West Pioneer Trail is win, with his Greenmen earning shares of two straight league titles. His 2023 Aurora team showed remarkable resiliency, bouncing back from two league losses in the span of a week, including a run-rule defeat at Roosevelt, to win nine of its last 10 Suburban American games.
