Benefit Night at Urban Plates 

PTSA’s next Benefit Night is on Wednesday, December 17. Dine at or order from Urban Plates on that day, and 20% of your purchase will be donated to Ponderosa PTSA. Urban Plates is located at 300 W. McKinley Ave, Suite 100, Sunnyvale, CA 94086. 

Staff Holiday Luncheon: Thank You

Thank you to all the generous families who brought delicious food and beverages for Ponderosa’s staff to enjoy at this week’s Holiday Luncheon. 

We would also like to thank our amazing parent volunteers for assisting us on that day: Nikki Van Gasse, Mutsilu Thomas, Ramya Nagavarapu, Margarette Chan, Aishwerya Raghav, Soo Kim, and Jessica Silberman. We truly appreciate all the support from the Ponderosa community for helping us show our appreciation to our wonderful teachers and staff.

Math Kangaroo Team Update

A few weeks ago, three Ponderosa teams made their debut in the first-ever Kangaroo Math Team Competition. Competing against nearly 200 teams nationwide in their grade levels, our students achieved impressive placements of 7th, 9th, and 11th overall.

Congratulations to “The Math Stars,” “The Number Ninjas,” and “The Puzzle Masters” for their outstanding effort and exceptional teamwork!

Open Position: Yearbook Coordinator

PTSA is seeking a Yearbook Coordinator to oversee the Yearbook Committee and create Ponderosa's 2025-26 yearbook. The Coordinator will compile photos of activities and events for the yearbook to be sold in May. Ponderosa works with a printing company, and the coordinator will communicate directly with the printer for creating the final product. Duties include:

1. Creating and moderating collection of photos from school events and activities.

2. Facilitating sales and purchasing of yearbook.

3. Coordinating efforts of yearbook committee and overseeing the yearbook cover and poetry contest.

4. Yearbook committee responsibilities include 5th grade parent liaison (baby photos & grad ads), yearbook cover contest, collection and selection of photos representing all students, activities, and events, and communicating progress or needs of the yearbook to PTSA.

Nominating Committee for 2026-27 PTSA Executive Board

PTSA requires a minimum 5-person Nominating Committee to prepare the slate of candidates for the 2026-27 PTSA Executive Board. The time commitment is only 2 virtual meetings as well as email communications, beginning in late January 2026. 

Ponderosa PTSA will not be able to operate or host events in 2026-27 without this first step of forming a Nominating Committee. If you would like to support PTSA’s programs and activities by serving on the Committee, email us at ptsaponderosa@gmail.com. 

2026 Ponderosa International Night 

All Ponderosa families are invited to join us for International Night on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM in the school cafeteria. If you would like to represent your country or culture with a food-tasting booth or student performance, you may sign up here by January 16. Please note that there is a limited number of sign-up spots due to space and time constraints. 

In addition, we need a few volunteers to help us during the event and for set-up. Please sign up if you are able to help. 

PTSA will also host our 3rd General Association Meeting of the school year in the cafeteria at 5:45PM, just before International Night begins.

If you would like to join this online parent community, please note that there are required membership questions, such as the name of your child’s teacher and classroom number, in order to keep the group secure and respect the privacy of our Ponderosa families.
