One of this region's gyms is found here. ...Sort of. While the gym building is here, it's actually a cable car station, with the actual gym challenge at the top of the mountain the cable car leads to. (Araceli Town's gym cannot yet be challenged.)
The Pokémon Center's mart occasionally updates its stock after a gym is defeated.
In the phone booth, Dr. Thorne gives a quest requiring players to capture a Mudbray or Mudsdale, and show it to him in his laboratory.
Captain Lang can be found just south of the gym, staring out over the sea. He requests players seek him out for a rematch once they've acquired at least seven badges, and suggests they seek out and challenge other former Gym Leaders in the process.
(No encounters can be acquired in Araceli Town without Surf of a Fishing Rod, neither of which are accessible in the current version of the game.)
