What does "hybrid, home-based Camp" mean?

The Pacific Northwest UU Kids Camp uses Zoom to gather children from around the Pacific Northwest for a unique and fun Camp experience. However, we know that's challenging at best to cultivate a truly engaging Camp experience online. That's why we provided short online gatherings, interspersed with at-home activities and crafts for children to do individually.

Our online gatherings are usually at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 2:30 p.m., and last for about half an hour. Between Zoom calls, children might learn a song, create a sock puppet, draw a self-portrait, make a snack, or go for a walk. At the end of the day, children are invited to share with their peers about how they spent their day.

How do I register my child for Camp?

We have a registration page! You can register through the form there, or by clicking here.

How much is Camp?

There is no registration fee associated with any week of the PNW UU Kids Camp. This camp is our gift to the community and we want it to be truly accessible to all. If you are able, however, we will gladly accept donations to help cover the costs of supplies and staff time. Donations are gratefully accepted by each congregation who will support their local campers.

We suggest a donation of up to $100 per child, per week of Camp. For information about how to make a donation for Camp to your congregation, please contact the religious educator at your church.

What if my child doesn't want to do one of the activities? What if we have a conflict during one of the days?

That's okay! We know that life happens and not everyone can be present all the time, for every single thing. We also know that, best intentions aside, not every activity we've provided meets the learning needs of every child. While we hope to see your child as often as possible, so that we can get to know one another and serve them as best as we're able, we approach all activities as a choice. Families and children are invited to engage with the materials how and when they are able.

I know there were lots of good activities and resources in the Camp materials from last summer. Where can I find those now?

To learn more about the activities from past camps, please contact your local religious educator.

When will Camp happen again?

This summer, 2021! We have three fantastic camps planned this year, over the course of two weeks. You can use our side-menu to learn more about each of them.
