One of my favorite parts of working on the website has been making and trying out graphics for the page banners. I have been experimenting with all kinds of filters and layers in my photo editing software.
By far the most commonly used is the video effect, that harks back to CTR scan lines, of cathode ray tube televisions and monitors.

Balance should be achieved in all things!"

Covid-19 Page Banner Artwork - HazardTech
I have always liked the utilitarian design of Hazard signage, It is clean, clear and simple. No messing about with fancy fonts that are difficult to read. Using a focus blur to obscure the outer edges of the banner, leaving the center to be sharp and clear.
Page Banner Artwork - PauaTech
Colouring this banner in shades of blues and greens, I was referencing a Paua shell that I happened to find while at the beach when returning to Gisborne after 30 years absence.
Meanwhile Page Banner Artwork - Monochrome
Converting the page banner to grey scale for the meanwhile page, has produced this artwork that reminds me of an X-ray. As The Meanwhile Website is Black on White, I wanted to keep the banner monochrome.
