Art and design relies on lines, shapes, colour, images. Geometry is the fundamental constructive method that ties all these into a cohesive whole.

My Artworks are 21st century mandalas, that represent the connections between multiple aspects of my life. These are also a representation of Dharma.

Dharma is a Hindi, Buddhist and Yogic concept which refers to the idea of a law or principle governing the universe. For an individual to live out their dharma is for them to act in accordance with this law. In Buddhism, it is said that acting in this way is the path to enlightenment.

Because of my interests in various fields of science and technology, my art takes on a science and technological aesthetic, which I have a great deal of fun actually constructing from bits and pieces. A friend, once said "my art is kit bashing at large scale" that is absolutely true. Working on my art allows me to let go of the external world and hyper focus on what I am working on with pure clarity of thought, so much the better when done with zero interruptions. While some prefer to chant or meditate to reach a zen state, I like to do it by creating art.

So while my art may look very abstract and industrial, it is in fact spiritually based.

Here we are again in another lockdown, this time around dealing with Delta Variant. As I sit at my computer working on this artwork, I feel a distinct sense of Deja Vu.

This artwork is a 3rd generation piece based on my physical artwork Covid-19 Version 2.0. Constructed from mixed media elements on an 1000x800 mm canvas, this was then photographed and then composited with graphic elements from my drawing software, before adding lighting effects and filters using my photo manipulation software before finally being printed. Final output is achieved on 200 GSM A2 gloss paper.

The Greek uppercase letter Δ (delta) is the standard mathematical symbol to represent change in some quantity. where: v₀ or v₀ is initial velocity (at time t₀), v₁ or v₁ is subsequent velocity (at time t₁). Delta Variant has indeed changed a great many things.

Taking inspiration from "creative discovery" with kaleidoscope settings in my image editing software, and the structure of snow flakes and crystals I produced this artwork. Using the Triangles as a reference to Covid 19 Delta Variant on which it is based.

The concentric circles represent the ripples of cause and effect as they expand outwards from the central hub of a action taken, with the interconnected circuitry patterns representing the complexity of the results as they manifest.

Feeling inspired and well caffeinated at around 3:00am in the morning , as I usually am and listening to some particularly interesting ambient music as I generally do when working on my art. I was in a Zen state and reflecting on the days events, I was at piece and felt quite serene. I had seen a project where street maps of a city had been turned into artworks, and was thinking that the people moving around those streets were like the information moving around in my mind.

Playing around with some of the filters in my photo editing software, or as I like to call it 'creative discovery of artistic functions within the software package' I happened to find the kaleidoscope.

After some 'creative discovery' and the composition of, and applied filters on several layers as well as the addition on a lighting effect, this is the result.

I am particularly happy with how the green elements have taken on a glass like appearance and create an almost holographic effect that is a staple of science fiction interface design.

I have been working on this artwork for my wall at home for quite a long time, Resilience and patience in equal measure, as well as a large amount of coffee.

Notes: Psychologists define resilience as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems, or workplace and financial stressors. As much as resilience involves “bouncing back” from these difficult experiences, it can also involve profound personal growth.

While these adverse events, much like rough river waters, are certainly painful and difficult, they don’t have to determine the outcome of your life. There are many aspects of your life you can control, modify, and grow with. That’s the role of resilience. Becoming more resilient not only helps you get through difficult circumstances, it also empowers you to grow and even improve your life along the way.
