Are you getting ready to attend PLMC conference in June?  Registration will  be opening soon! 

Here’s what you need to know:

Firstly, please note the timings for each day

• Conference opening is at 4pm on Day 1

• Day 2 & 3 are full day sessions, 9am to 6pm

• The last day of conference is open to everyone as it will be our usual 9am & 11.15am services. A separate registration will be provided closer to the date

In terms of conference fees:

• Individual passes both onsite and online will be $20 per person

• However to help with accountability we really encourage you to participate onsite as a group. After all, remember that a threefold cord is not easily broken!

• If you sign up in a group of five to attend onsite, a $50 food voucher will be provided for group bonding

• And if 4 of you bring a newcomer to make a group of five, you’ll get a further $20 off!

• Conference merchandise will also be given only to onsite attendees

Our pastors will be away at the TRAC Pastors Silent Retreat from 19 to 21 April 22. Please pray for our pastors that the Lord will meet them in a very special way, and help them to maintain the silence by refraining from contacting them. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, which falls 40 days before Easter (excluding Sundays). Some churches observe Ash Wednesday with a special service where the foreheads of the worshippers are marked with a mixture of oil and ashes, and the words, “Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return” are spoken by the presiding pastor or priest to remind the congregation of their mortality. 

Lent is a season of preparation, meditation and prayer, much like Advent. However, unlike Advent, the events anticipated are of a much more solemn nature – the suffering and sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, and the themes of this season are repentance and confession, fasting and self-denial, salvation and spiritual discipline. 

The season focuses on the life and ministry of the Lord, and His last days in Jerusalem. The liturgical colour is purple, again a symbol of penitence and preparation, but also of the Passion (i.e. suffering) of the Messiah. 

The last week of Lent is called Holy Week in many churches, and is marked by Maundy Thursday services commemorating the Last Supper, and sometimes, ritual foot-washing, and the stripping of the altar symbolizing the stripping away of Jesus’ physical vestments and dignity. 

Good Friday services commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus, and His “seven last words” are usually meditated on. The liturgical colour of Good Friday is black for darkness, forsakenness and death.
