Praying for "Christmas At Your Doorstep"
This year’s Christmas theme is “CHRISTMAS AT YOUR DOORSTEP”. Due to COVID-19 constraints, only 3 areas were highlighted for participation though there are actually many more. Yet as a church family, we can participate in all the Outreach efforts together by praying alongside. In these challenging times, we desire to bring the message of Joy and Hope of Christmas to the respective homes. Over these 4 Sundays in Advent, we will be highlighting various Outreach initiatives for us to pray about.
Hope Student Care Centre
On 11 December, we will celebrate Christmas with the students of Hope Student Care Centre from the Hougang Community whom we serve. A special DIY gift will be given to each child to make with their parents. The joy of Christmas is best shared through family activities where there is parent-child bonding. The best craft takes a prize home.
Beyond 12 (B12)
On 11 December, the young leaders of B12 have planned a hybrid Christmas programme – gathering at respective homes and connecting together over Zoom. This Christmas programme reaches community youths and seeks to re-engage them to attend regular B12 ministry sessions.
Christmas Online Services on Friday, 25 Dec 2020
Christmas Day, Friday, 25 Dec 2020
• English Service, 9.00am
• Mandarin Service 11.15am
There’s no better time to invite pre-believing friends and loved ones to know Jesus than at Christmas! We have prepared e-invitation cards to join us in the services in English and Chinese, so do invite your family and friends to hear about God’s Greatest Gift - "JESUS!"
Download the e-invitation card here.
The artwork used in this year's Christmas publicity was painted by Jennifer Ho from the Prophetic Art team. The word Jennifer received from God is that "Christmas reminds us that hope and joy cannot be contained but as the bubbles of JOY and the sparks of HOPE are released it will change the atmosphere both internally and externally.”
Farewell Service for Ps Alex
As was announced last Sunday, Ps Alex has been appointed to Living Waters Methodist Church from 1 January 2021. We will be having a service to bid farewell to Ps Alex on Sun 27 Dec 2020, 2:30pm. Please join us for the service online at live.plmc.org.
We are celebrating Holy Communion as a PLMC Family TODAY, 6 Dec 2020 during our English and Mandarin worship services. Please ensure that you have the Holy Communion elements with you even before the start of the services.
ADVENT is the first season of the Christian Calendar and begins four Sundays before Christmas. The word “Advent” means “The Arrival Of”, and refers to the coming of Christ into the world. The season’s colour is purple, symbolising penitence and preparation for the anticipated Messiah. The Advent Candles, an arrangement of three purple candles symbolising Hope (Isaiah), Peace (John the Baptist), and Love (Holy Trinity), a pink candle symbolising Joy (Mary, Mother of Jesus), and a central white candle symbolising Christ, are usually placed on the altar, with one coloured candle lit each Sunday, and the white candle lit on Christmas Day.
This Sunday, we light the second candle, the John the Baptist candle which symbolises Peace. John preached a message of repentance and preparation to receive the Messiah, the Prince of Peace. Matthew 3:11 says, “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” May we be filled with God’s Shalom Peace which only He can give.

Children's Ministry
Silver Boxes
We thank God for His loving presence and all the leaders and 46 children who came to Camp Masterpiece on 26 and 27 November, to learn how to draw and how to write a storyboard. God is indeed awesome!
Pray for our upcoming camps on 4 Dec and 11 Dec, as we reach out to the children, to connect them to God and one another.
Sonshine Kids
We thank God for our SSK Day Camp on 21 Nov. 26 children joined us at the Camp. It was wonderful to meet them on-site and being able to re-connect with each of them.
Pray for our upcoming Christmas programmes on 12 Dec and 19 Dec.
Discipleship & Nurture
We thank God for the 27 brothers and sisters from both the English and Mandarin services who were baptised on 29 Nov 2020. Let us continue to pray for the growth and strengthening of their faith in Christ and relationships with members of the PL family.
Let us pray for the brothers and sisters who will be received into membership on 13 Dec 2020 to grow deeper in Word, Spirit and Community as they extend God’s kingdom in their different spheres of influence and communities.

Pastoral Care
We praise and thank God that the daily infections of COVID-19 have been coming down in our nation. Never-the-less, we understand that there are some of us who are not coping as well as others, and there may be anxiety, frustration, sadness, anger, helplessness and a whole slew of other emotions. As your pastors, we want you to know that we are here for you.
You can email us at pastors@plmc.org or call us at 6100 7562
Please send your prayer requests to prayernet@plmc.org.
Care Hub (English & Chinese)
Care Hub is formed to support and journey alongside our members / worshippers whose lives and livelihoods have been affected by this crisis. The end goal of Care Hub is pastoral care, for someone to journey with them and remind them they are beloved of God and to find strength in God to face the challenges.
As each individual has different needs, Care Hub serves as a one-stop helpline where an individual can obtain support in the church in various areas. If you have been affected by this crisis, Care Hub is here to support you.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need to be a worshipper at PLMC to obtain help for Care Hub?
As long as you have been worshipping with us, either on-site or online, you are welcome to obtain help from Care Hub. We seek to journey with you as a family of faith during, and beyond, the COVID-19 period.
2. Is it compulsory for a Care Befriender to journey with me?
Yes, it is. We are not designed to journey alone. The church is the Body of Christ and each of us is a part of the body. Having a Care Befriender in this journey is to experience the community and interdependence of our Triune God. God is never alone; we need others too.
3. How long will the Care Befriender journey with me?
Each person has a different journey. Each journey is unique. In general, the Care Befriender will journey with you 3 – 6 months. Let these be a meaningful journey of deepening in God through the company of another.
4. Can I request for pastor to be my spiritual mentor/counsellor?
Yes, you can make the request, but we are all called to be a priesthood of believers hence most likely a mature believer will be assigned to journey with you. Trust that it is God’s hand that has led you thus far, and He will ensure that you are mentored or counselled by the right person with the necessary spiritual gifts for you.
5. I am not affected by COVID-19 but I need someone to talk to. Do I send my request through Care Hub?
No, Care Hub specifically caters to those who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and its ramifications. Please contact the relevant ministry that caters to your need directly. Contact details can be found at the end of this site, under ‘Our Ministries’.
