Batallion Staff (SY 2023-24) preparing for the Drill portion of the Inspection
The JPA is a triennial inspection that gives the cadets have an opportunity to earn a rating of “Honor Unit with Distinction” or HUD. The HUD is given to a unit that scores 95 percent or higher in the evaluation and the cadets are then authorized to wear a “gold star” as an indication of their accomplishment.
The JPA inspection consists of the following:
Continuous Improvement Plan Presentation
Service Learning Project Presentation
Color Guard Performance
In-Ranks Inspection
Cadet Portfolios
At the 2016 JPA, the Plano East Panther Battalion achieved a score of 97.75%, which was the highest score in the state of Texas.
The Assistant's Visit (AV) is an annual inspection phase in which the JROTC Unit prepares for the triennial JPA. The same items are inspected with the sole difference being that instead of a representative from the brigade inspecting the unit, another Senior Army Instructor (SAI) from a school within the district will conduct the inspection.
In 2019, the Plano East Panther Battalion achieved a score of 98.2%, retaining the gold star, exceeding the score achieved during our JPA, and also maintaining the title of Top Battalion in Texas.
